Duplicate Inspector

The Duplicate Inspector is a new feature in SuperSync 4.0.

The Duplicate Inspector lets you quickly view and compare duplicate tracks (or tracks that are possibly duplicates).

To use the Duplicate Inspector, follow these instructions:

1. In SuperSync, select the FILE DUPLICATES or POSSIBLE DUP (same lib) view. The SuperSync Library window will now show a list of songs that are 'duplicates' or 'possible duplicates'.

Note: 'File Duplicates' are songs with the exact same file size, Artist Name, Album, and CRC. 'Possible Dup' are files that are possible duplicates of each other. Examples of a possible duplicate would a two songs that have the same artist, album, and track name but one file is a lower quality version and the other is a high quality version.

2. In the SuperSync window, select one of the 'duplicate' songs and then select DUPLICATE INSPECTOR from SuperSync's FILE menu. This will open the Duplicate Inspector.

3. In the Duplicate Inspector, you will see two duplicate songs listed side by side. The songs' details such as File Name, CRC, Size, etc are shown side by side so you can easily determine which file to keep. When you decide to delete one of the songs, simply enable/check the Trash icon underneath the song you want to delete. This will put the song in SuperSync's Trash.

Note: If you have more than two duplicates (e.g. 3 copies of the same song, the Duplicate Inspector's Next and Previous buttons will be enabled. These buttons allow you to switch between the available duplicates.

Important: Do not quit SuperSync before you proceed to the next step otherwise your changes may be lost.

4. Repeat Step 3 for any files that you wish to delete. When you have finished putting all your duplicates in SuperSync's Trash, use the EMPTY TRASH command from SuperSync's ACTION menu. This will permanently delete the 'trashed' songs from the selected library.

Note: If your library is set iTunes, SuperSync will tell iTunes to remove those songs from it's library as well so that iTunes doesn't show any orphaned files.
